How To Deal With Dry Eyes

If you're like me you are reading this blog because you suffer from the horrible side effects of dry eyes. It's one of the most annoying ailments you can get as your eyes are always on display. If it's not the redness, grittiness, and stinging sensation that gets you, it's the soreness and the constant running of your eyes. It makes it impossible to wear make-up and you spend most of the time with people, asking you whether you are alright as you look like you're crying all of the time. Seriously, it is that much of a problem.

No matter how bad dry eyes can get it can be both a temporary and chronic condition. It can occur when your tear glands don’t produce enough tears or when your tears evaporate too quickly. For the most part, the dry eye condition has no long-lasting effect, but if left untreated it can result in permanent damage to your eyes.

Below we look at some of the ways you can avoid making your eyes worse and some of the changes you can make to your daily schedule to help prevent you from getting dry eyes or at least to help you combat and reduce the stress caused by your dry eyes.

Reasons For Getting Dry-eyes

Inadequate tear production

Eating Healthy

We all know the importance of eating healthy, but sticking to a well-balanced diet can not only help to maintain the body properly but it can also aid in the care of your eyes. Food items like nuts (almonds, walnuts, and peanuts), green vegetables, seeds (flax, chia, and pumpkin seeds), and fruit (particularly oranges, berries, kale, and aubergines) can make a difference to your eye care. not for good eye health to eat the right nutrients to prevent eye problems from occurring.


Don’t apply too much eye makeup or any, if at all possible. Whilst makeup is aesthetically important to many people, it still contains chemicals, and the more you have on the less it helps your eyes stay healthy. If you leave them in for too long it will increase your chances of making your dry eyes worse or even gaining an eye infection as well.

Lifestyle and Environment

Changes in the weather, lifestyle, and diet can bring a new set of challenges to dry eye sufferers. The secret to healthy eyes is to make positive changes to your diet, lifestyle, and environment. Eat healthier, exercise, drink plenty of water, and wear sunglasses outdoors to shield your eyes from the cold and the hot weather. Not all dry eye sufferers have issues with both hot and cold climates so you'll have to decide which is better for you and tailor your lifestyle to avoid environments that can make your eyes worse.

Central Heating and Air conditioning

Both of these can have an effect on your eyes. If you feel the climate is too dry, then wear an eye drop on a daily basis to combat this effect especially if you work in an office environment.

Whist the options above will prove to be beneficial to some people by themselves, you still might prefer to combine these pointers with developing your morning facial routine.
